FDA-approved spinal decompression proven to eliminate herniated discs
A new male patient of Dr. Cooney’s in his 60’s who works in construction came our chiropractic office in Rutherford, NJ, a few months ago as a last ditch effort to lessen his debilitating back pain due to damaged discs. His orthopedic surgeon had recommended scheduling him for back surgery which would have put him on disability for several months. But before moving forward with invasive back surgery, his co-worker recommended he meet with Dr. Cooney, a longtime colleague.
The man has worked as a mason here in Bergen County for more than 30 years. The constant bending over, even wearing a back brace, eventually took a toll on his spine resulting in two herniated disks. Pain medications were not lessening his pain but did leave him in a perpetual “fog” and the expense of these drugs took a significant bite out of the family’s monthly budget.
Back surgery for disc damage not always necessary
His doctor had not discussed spinal decompression therapy, a non-invasive back therapy which uses an FDA-approved machine to slowly and gently stretch the spine. This act of stretching eventually lessens the pressure on the compressed nerve root (herniated disc), and can result in a lessening or even complete alleviation of pain.
The construction worker veteran was more than willing to undergo this treatment protocol which was performed twice a week over the course of a month (treatment regimes vary depending on each patient’s medical condition). Each week, the two herniated disks slowly reverted back to their natural positions, due to the lessening of pressure between each disc. By the end of therapy, the patient had lessened his chronic back pain by a remarkable 85 percent.
After resting two additional weeks, he was able to return to work. Best of all, his plan for back surgery was long forgotten.
FDA-approved spine treatment alternative to prescription pain pills
Decompression therapy is far less expensive than pain medications and surgery, is non-invasive, requires no extensive recovery time, and is completely drug-free. Most of all, it can help so many people suffering every day with chronic back pain due to disc injury.
If you suffer from herniated discs, bulging discs, or degenerative disc disease, we encourage you to discuss your medical condition with Dr. Cooney, who has been in practice for more than 30 years.
Today, there are many proven alternatives to invasive back surgery and debilitating and expensive prescription pain medication. But patients and families need to be aware of these alternative therapies for chronic back pain. The discovery of the right back pain treatment can offer a dramatically improved quality of life.
